USES
Description

Angelica Root essential oil is like having a  best friend who is constantly encouraging, supportive and empowering. For centuries, the Angelica Root has been promoted to help manage the stress of daily life. Incredibly complex, Angelica Root essential oil invites fresh energy to the body and brain. It has a strong green-herbal-spicy, somewhat terpenic aroma with other complex nuances.

Angelica was one of the few spice plants exported to Asia in ancient times. The high yield of Angelica made it an exceptional flavoring agent and apothecary drug. The leaves were used in tea and the stems were made into confectionary treats in Victorian times. During the Middle Ages, Angelica was considered a shielding agent to dispel negative energies.

Angelica Root was known as the “Root of the Holy Ghost” and was used to increase protection in superstitious times. Its Latin species name is archangelica. Like many oils derived from the root of the plant, it is considered, grounding and relaxing. In perfume blends, Angelica is considered musky. Mixing it into your favorite perfume or massage oil can add a delicate spiciness.

Angelica Root is native to Europe and is sourced from a plant that grows up to six feet tall and blooms soft clusters of pale-green flowers. Angelica essential oil can be derived from the seeds or root. The root oil is considered to have a stronger earthy note. The essential oil is extracted through steam distillation and is photosensitizing. Use in small proportions and with sun warnings in mind.
