Native to India, the black pepper plant grows to about 10 feet in height and has clusters of small white flowers. As the berries ripen, they turn from green to orange to red. After the berries are picked, they are left in the sun to dry, which turns their color to black. Derived from the partially dried, unripe fruit, Black Pepper essential oil is extracted through steam distillation.
Black Pepper essential oil possesses a unique versatility that is both energizing and warming. In addition to invigorating the senses, the essential oil is used to enhance clarity. TUMMY MASSAGE: Add to a 2 ounce squeeze bottle: 6 drops each of Black Pepper, Ginger, Peppermint and Sweet Orange, then fill with Sweet Almond oil and shake to mix. Apply a teaspoon over the tummy and gently massage in the direction that the large intestine flows. (2% dilution)
INHALATION: Add to a personal inhaler and breathe in as needed: 5 drops of Black Pepper, 5 drops of Tea Tree and 5 drops of Lemon. Or add this blend to your Ultrasonic Diffuser and diffuse for 30-60 minutes.
BATH SALTS: Combine: 1 drop of Black Pepper, 1 drop of Peppermint, 2 drops of Copaiba and 2 drops of Frankincense with 1 tablespoon of Jojoba oil and 1/2 cup of Epsom salts. Stir together and add to a full tub for a relaxing and relieving soak.
LINIMENT: Add to a 2 ounce bottle: 7 drops of Black Pepper, 3 drops of Helichrysum, 4 drops of Frankincense and 6 drops of Copaiba, then fill with Avocado oil. Shake well and apply to overworked muscles. (1.7% dilution)
