Diy Essential Oil Vitamin C Serum

Trendy ingredients come and go, but Vitamin C has stuck around and for good reason. Vitamin C touts many benefits towards skincare, like having the ability to brighten complexion, even skin tone and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

However, as our skin matures and is exposed to pollutants, our skin begins to lose collagen and elastin balance. Enter, EG’s DIY Vitamin C Serum. This skin-loving powerhouse paired with essential oils can give expensive store-bought formulas a run for their money.

With antioxidant properties and a role in collagen synthesis, Vitamin C might be the ingredient your skincare routine is missing. Eating your daily dose of veggies and fruits is of course always recommended as well.

Ingredients

1 oz Rosehip carrier oil

3 tbsp Distilled water

1 tbsp 190-proof alcohol

1 ml Ascorbic acid (Vitamin C)

1 drop Rose

3 drops Frankincense Carterii

2 drops Helichrysum Italicum

2.5 oz Container

How To

Thoroughly stir ascorbic acid into water. In a separate bowl, combine Rosehip, Frankincense, Rose and Helichrysum Italicum with 190-proof alcohol. Then combine all ingredients and transfer to the container. Shake before use and apply to your face and neck both morning and evening. Follow-up with a moisturizer.

Hi Eli! If you wish to remove alcohol from this recipe, you would need a solubilizer such as Polysorbate 20 and a preservative. The alcohol both disperses the oil in water like a solubilizer and also preserves the product. Witch hazel and glycerin don’t offer either of these functions and would not be suitable substitutes.

Can I use anything else instead of alcohol? Like Witch Hazel or Vegan Glycerin?
