Mindfulness is the practice of thinking with intention. To be mindful is to be aware of what’s happening in your life, and not be overwhelmed by it.
One study showed that mindfulness meditation coupled with the use of essential oils was a viable alternative to anxiety treatments. How can you take time to be mindful today? Here are a few tips to get you started. This article was inspired by Mindful.org.
Get comfortable: Sitting and thinking in discomfort is sure to throw you off your meditation game. Sit on a cushion, on the bed, on the floor or wherever you’re most comfortable.
Turn the diffuser on: Diffusing oils that provoke thoughts and support relaxation during mindfulness is always beneficial. Try diffusing Balance, Be Still, Harmony, Meditation or Relaxation.
Observe the present: Pay attention to what is happening now, allowing judgments to pass. This may take some practice.
Return to the present: Your thoughts may wander. When you notice this happens, return to thinking on the present and don’t beat yourself up for a wandering mind. With practice comes success.
