Whatever the cause, Palmarosa’s floral and citrus aroma helps balance out the nervous system and uplift dark moods so we can feel more like ourselves.
Its stimulating properties can help us move past feelings of insecurity, grief or defensiveness. For nights of tossing and turning, diffusing Palmarosa can promote deep sleep.
The grassy leaves of the wild-growing Palmarosa plant is in the same family as Lemongrass and Citronella. Once called “Indian” or “Turkish” Geranium oil, Palmarosa dates back to the Bombay shipping ports of the Red Sea and was transported partly by land, to Constantinople and Bulgaria, where the oil was often used for the adulteration of Rose oil. Today, the essential oil is extracted from the entire herb through a steam distillation method.

BATH SALTS: Combine: 1 drop of Palmarosa, 1 drop of Peppermint, 1 drop of Frankincense (Carterii) and 2 drops of Frankincense (Serrata) with 1 tablespoon of Jojoba oil and 1/2 cup of Epsom salts. Stir together and add to a full bath for a relaxing soak.
SPORTS MASSAGE: Add to a 2 ounce squeeze bottle: 8 drops of Palmarosa, 2 drops of Lavender, 5 drops of Chamomile (Roman) and 5 drops of Rosemary, then fill with Jojoba oil and shake to mix well. Massage into sore muscles. (1.7% dilution)
RELEASE: Add to a personal inhaler and inhale as needed: 5 drops of Palmarosa, 5 drops of Ylang Ylang and 5 drops of Mandarin. Or add 5-6 drops of Palmarosa to your Scent Ball Diffuser and diffuse for 30-60 minutes.
