This or That: What’s the Difference Between Massage Therapy, Circu-Touch and Muscle Relief?

Many people associate massages with luxury, thinking of them as a self-indulgent treat. Here at Edens Garden, we prefer to think of massages as an essential component of a healthy, happy life. Think of a massage as a holistic approach to mental and physical wellness. On their own, massages are highly effective remedies for aches and pains associated with exercise, aging, illness and daily wear and tear. By incorporating essential oils, you can create an aromatherapy massage that harnesses naturally therapeutic benefits for an overall enhanced massage experience.

When looking for a relieving blend of oils to incorporate into your massage, it may be difficult to navigate the three synergy blends — Massage Therapy, Circu-Touch, and Muscle Relief — that we offer at EG. Expertly curated for effectiveness and a pleasing aroma, our massage blends provide similar experiences. In our “This or That,” we delve a little deeper into the differences between the three synergy blends.

Essential Oil Synergy Blends For Massage

Massage Therapy: A tranquil mix of Wintergreen, Camphor, Peppermint, Ylang Ylang, Helichrysum, Blue Tansy, Chamomile and Osmanthus essential oils, this camphorous and floral blend can revitalize your mood and calm your senses.

Wintergreen essential oil, particularly when combined with Peppermint, was found to be effective at treating lower back pain as an alternative to nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). This blend also utilizes the anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties of Camphor. Ylang Ylang and Blue Tansy also help to relieve pain and improve your mood.

For an overall body massage, try adding a 3% dilution of Massage Therapy into a bottle of carrier oil.

Circu-Touch: This soothing blend boasts a bright, minty aroma, and includes deeply penetrating oils like Cypress, Peppermint, Sweet Marjoram, Basil, Grapefruit and Lavender.

Well-rounded and multipurpose, Circu-Touch offers the pain-relieving properties of menthol found in Peppermint and the circulation benefits present in Cypress oil. Grapefruit essential oil is also beneficial in its ability to stimulate the lymphatic system.

Ask your massage therapist to incorporate Circu-Touch into your massage for a detoxifying experience and improved blood flow. It also makes a great addition to a soaking bath. Combine six drops of Circu-Touch, one ounce of carrier oil and one ounce of Himalayan salt. Add to the tub and relax after a long day.

Muscle Relief: Containing only four single oils (Peppermint, Clove Bud, Wintergreen and Helichrysum) the Muscle Relief blend packs a punch. With a warm, minty and herbal aroma, this restorative blend can ease tight muscles and soothe pain. Additionally, its cooling effect on the body can help decrease inflammation and swelling.

Similar to Massage Therapy, Muscle Relief contains a potent combination of Wintergreen and Peppermint, making it perfect for treating acute pain. The addition of Clove, which boasts anti-inflammatory action and analgesic benefit, gives this blend a warming effect to offset the cooling of the two mints. Similarly, the anti-inflammatory properties in Helichrysum provide relief from swelling, allowing muscle tissue and joints to heal.

Create your own massage oil with Muscle Relief to spot-treat problem areas or soothe strained muscles after an intense workout. Add one drop of Muscle Relief to a teaspoon of carrier oil or unscented lotion (formulated to have additional ingredients such as EOs added), increasing drops if needed (but not exceeding five drops). Voila, you’re ready to go!

Dawn, you can use these blends in a bath. We recommend diluting oils to 1% for bath use. We also offer a Circu-Touch bath salt you may enjoy: https://www.edensgarden.com/products/circu-touch-bath-salt-inflammation

I’m having shoulder surgery would this be a good blend to use to help ease the shoulder pain? If so do you recommend a carrier oil over a lotion?

Hi Rebecca! We recommend starting with a 1% dilution rate. This equals to 2 drops of Muscle Relief in 10 ml of carrier oil. Here also is our roll-on dilution chart https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0380/8537/files/Dilution_Chart_Roll-On_8.pdf?13802315685207036803

I have Muscle Relief and bought 10ml roller bottle. I’m confused with how many drops per ounce or teaspoon. I’ve read somewhere like 10-15 drops with 2 teaspoons carrier oil. Does that sound right? Giving a percent of dilution is confusing to me.
