AAA: Which Synergy Blends Are Safe For Kids?

Today, we’re tackling a topic that many of you want to know: are synergy essential oils for kids safe? As it turns out, many of our blends are safe for little ones. But before we give you the good news on the many safe blends we offer, let’s discuss what makes a blend unsafe for little ones.

Certain essential oils have heightened safety precautions. Take Wintergreen, for example. Wintergreen can cause drug interactions, blood clotting and toxicity. It can also be teratogenic and cause Reye’s syndrome in children. For this reason, we don’t recommend using this essential oil, nor blends with a high amount of Wintergreen, on or around children. We also recommend avoiding Birch, Sage, Fennel, Eucalyptus and Peppermint with young children due to heightened safety precautions. Other oils such as Lemongrass, Cinnamon Bark, Oregano and Clove Bud should be avoided for topical use and diffused with caution.

Still, you may find that some of the aforementioned oils are in blends which we’ve deemed safe for children. In all cases, the above oils are in low enough proportions as to not affect children negatively when following safe dilution and diffusion guidelines. However, we have also included a list of blends that are safe to diffuse infrequently (but not apply topically) for up to 15 minutes. Note, before using an essential oil topically for the first time, we recommend performing a skin patch.
